IRAS' Corporate Gift Design concepts
During the process of designing the corporate gifts, I had to think of what the people really want as a corporate gift.
My initial idea was something light and easy to carry around by different groups of users. It is practical for the users. Something that represents IRAS and still able to allow users to use the product rather than just leaving it there and that I would prefer to design the use of the product (Functions and purpose) rather than just the commonality of the product (e.g. Cup and keychain)
Before I went on designing the corporate gifts, I had to think of the different users that I had in mind (Students, visitors, Tourists and VIPs), as this helps me to evaluate the practicality of the gifts for the different users. My idea also was to think of an appropriate gift that allows the users to use it daily instead of just leaving it at the side, making it useless.
I then had to think of the various different corporate gifts that come to my mind.
There are numerous options listed below such as:
(Pen, Stationeries, phone cover, thumb drive, belt, watch, bracelet, ring, shirt, keychain, wallet, socks, laptop cover, cardholder, notebook and stamp box.)
Through the brainstorming process, I tried to evaluate the best possible practicability of the gift for the users, as well as a gift that best represents IRAS.
After the evaluation of practicability of each gift, I felt that notebook is useful and practical as compared to other gifts. The reason being so is because, notebook allows users to take notes on the go, which is light and portable as well. I then tried to customize the notebook that is able to contain pen/pencil, contact cards, as well as a thumb drive. As notebook is all about information keeping, my concept of the notebook is that it allows the users to hold information be it virtually or physically, making it practical and useful for users wherever they are. It’s like a multi-purpose gift instead of just a gift that is only meant for a singular purpose.
How it also helps to enhance IRAS’ profile is that in the notebook, there are notes imprinted within the notebook such as payment dates and contact details of IRAS, so that whenever users open the notebook, they can view in quick access to know the information about IRAS, such as when is the deadline to e-file their taxes and so on.

Another gift is the Stamp box which is another part of a concept that allows user to have fun and allows interactivity between the users and the gift. As stamp chops were widely used in IRAS in its former years, it also serves as a good reminder and representation of IRAS for users when they use the stamp chops. For example, the embossed on the stamp chops could be “Best Taxpayer Award” which contains slight humor but yet a subtle reminder for users to know what it means to be part of an IRAS’ community that uses stamp chops in the past as well as to remind them indirectly of paying tax in a way.
After consultations with my supervisor on the designs as well as the purpose of it, there were better amendments and changes to improve the box to contain more stamp chops as well as keeping the design of the box like shape for visitors to keep it as a memento and use it in a fun manner.
After several considerations, the design and measurements of the box was done and illustrated out. In addition to the corporate gifts. I also designed several of the miscellaneous gifts such as IRAS building as magnet, IRAS Historical photos on T-Shirts and mugs and etc that can be seem to be given as corporate gifts too.
